Hi! My name is Kevin Marks.
(My actual last name is too hard to pronounce, so I go by first and middle name here.)
I started making generative art in 2021. Since then, I’ve been experimenting at the intersection of code-based visual art, mathematical algorithms, and real-world data visualizations. This site intends to share all of the visual output that comes from this experimentation.
Generative art has been one way for me to express my deep appreciation for art and design, while exploiting my tendency to recognize patterns in everyday life and visualize them in cool and unique ways. Like many other generative artists, I’ve come to love exploring artistic output when you manipulate the parameters of those patterns, set a few drawing guidelines, introduce a bit of ramdomness, then just let the code run.
I’ve also always been interested in the “genre” of generative sketches that incorporate some sort of personal data. It can be as simple as the structure of your family tree to the places you’ve been on vacation, but when the data is effectively applied to some algorithm written by the artist, the output can be really interesting and unique!
On this site, expect to see a combination of both long-form and data-inspired generative art pieces.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to work on something together or if you just want to say hi :)
